Rusty EK,s Ute
Rusty EK,s Ute
G,day all
Have just got approval in principle to start my ute Plan is to put a new chassis in to mount a Jag IRS rear end set up and a 4.2litre V8 with turbo up front , extend the roof to make an extra cab , UC torana front end with HQ discs .
They gave approval for everything except the turbo ,so unsure what engine to go with at the moment, will start the mock up with the 4.2l and decide where to go after that .
Got plenty of other stuff to sort out before hand first.
Ute is in a bad way , basically everything from the top of the sills down is buggered, somebody has spent alot of time bodging this ute , the whole floor is made up of chicken wire and concrete
The fuel tank , out of dont know what, is held in with timber and roofing screws, totally amazed someone thought this was ok.
Hopefully there should be some photos above , if I have done this right

Thanks guys
Old holden , diff is out of cradle and will be mounted on a new rear chassis and strengthening, am really keen since getting approval and have the new chassis roughed up and diff shortened , will post up more photos shortly.
Devilrod , think getting them pics up was harder than the rust removal , got EK spread all over the yard everywhere , at least I know there will be no rust to come out again in the floor , have to be a complete new floor
StealthEK am having fun so far , am sure everybody knows how keen you are at the start , am making good progress, wife is not happy about time spent in shed , will have to do some work on the house over Easter to calm her down

Hi all , bet it makes you feel good about some of your resto,s
Got a bit down when I started stripping it and seen how bad it was ,but am keen again now.
Ok , have fabricated new chassis and strengthening and shortened the diff to fit under the ute, have also made new inner sills from rhs that the chassis will attach to and mounted it into the ute , still have a lot of welding and gussets to do etc.
Have also Started to extend the roof and started to cut out other rust and repair ,so think am heading in the right direction.
